Sheep’s Clothing Theatre is a company dedicated to the creation of the accessible and the unconventional, both in content and in style. Established in 2024, Sheep’s Clothing Theatre develops new works from theatre creators that focus on adapting and interpreting classical texts and stories in order to tell them through fresh perspectives. With a dedication to performance’s past, present and future, Sheep’s Clothing Theatre seeks to support work without a home, and aims to honour the practice of theatre by giving audiences new ways to engage with the form. Sheep’s Clothing Theatre focuses on approaching stereotypically masculine and heterosexual classical text and stories, and recounting them from queer, female perspectives. Founded by Catie Thorne and Brianna Russell, and led by emerging artists from across the country, we combine our individual practices and experiences to create a body of collective work that continuously challenges our perspective of what theatre can be.
