The Virgin, Mary
BY BRIANNA RUSSELL
April 30th - May 3rd, 2026
In 1994, lesbians Mary and Jo travel from their hometown in rural Newfoundland to the ruins of the Temple of Hera in Samos, Greece. Although Jo believes they have taken this journey for the sake of studying for her oh-so-important archaeological dissertation, Mary has a different plan- to pray to the goddess Hera for a biological child. Unable to adopt or marry, this baby is Mary’s last chance to prove that her and Jo can be a “real family.” However, Hera has other plans, and the trio are thrust into a confrontation that forces them to reckon with the definitions of family, faith and the miracle of love.
The Virgin, Mary explores queer parenthood through the eyes of two young women who navigate a society that refuses to recognize them as a family. A whirlwind one-act that examines queer motherhood, The Virgin, Mary asks the question- will our world ever truly change?
The Virgin, Mary is presented with the support of the Society of the Creative School.

Tensions rise in Dressing Room Four of the Bay Arena, as the Ascension Astros prepare to face off against their rivals, the Carbonear Cardinals, in the final championship game of their high school careers. Following a group of young men with everything to lose, The Astros is a cautionary tale of small-town cycles of abuse, Canadian hockey culture, and the violence of masculinity.
TLDR; What happens when a high school hockey instigator punches the sh** out of the rival team's captain at an underage bar fight the night before their final championship game? The Astros, that's what.
icarus is falling
BY OWEN CARTER AND BRIANNA RUSSELL
july 15th - july 26th, 2026
The hamilton fringe festival
The young Icarus has resigned himself to a life of monotony imprisoned inside the Labyrinth, forever overshadowed by the genius of his aging father, Daedalus. However, his world is thrown into disarray when Helios, the ancient sun god, appears on the roof, promising Icarus the two things he desires most- adoration and immortality. ‘Icarus is Falling’ delves into the intricate relationships between brilliant fathers, arrogant sons, and the power of their gods through an imagined retelling of the infamous Greek myth of youthful pride.
‘Icarus is Falling’ was the winner of the New Play Contest at Hamilton Fringe.
